Florida Education Association members are the experts when it comes to public education.

We know that when professional educators are allowed to nurture their students’ natural curiosity, imagination and love of learning, those students will grow to become the leaders, thinkers and artists of tomorrow.

Sadly, we also know that for more than two decades, Florida’s students, educators and public schools have been under attack by certain politicians in the Legislature. Schools have been underfunded, students have been over-tested, and teachers and education staff professionals have been disrespected.

For the sake of our students and our professions, we must come together, organize and take collective action.

Our members stand up and speak out for every student’s right to a great public education:

  • 2023 Legislative Session – This is where you can keep up with everything that lawmakers are doing this year that will affect our students, public schools and school employees. Find bill numbers, committee agendas, talking points and more for important legislation.
  • Take Action! Reach out right now and make your voice heard on high-priority issues facing educators. FEA will help you connect.
  • Class Size – Florida’s voters have twice voted to keep our public school classes small enough for educators to connect with each and every student.
  • Higher Education – Faculty and graduate assistants at Florida’s colleges and universities are committed to academic excellence, a strong faculty voice and academic freedom.
  • Private School Vouchers – Parents and educators believe handing public dollars to privately-managed charter and voucher schools is short-sighted and unfair.
  • Privatization – Education staff professionals are a critical part of every public school district. Privatizing services wastes money and threatens the well-being of our students
  • Retirement Security – The Florida Retirement System is among the nation’s strongest retirement funds. It should be protected and expanded to honor the work of our public servants.
  • Teacher & Staff Shortage – Florida’s critical teacher and school staff shortage has very real impacts on our state’s students
  • Teacher Evaluations – Professional educators want to be the best, but need to be evaluated fairly and on the things that matter.
  • Testing – Teachers invented testing but know that they are best used for assessment and improvement — not shaming and blaming like Florida’s runaway testing system.
