Pennies for Kids

2.6 million Pennies for Kids

Have you heard? FEA is collecting pennies!
In case you are wondering what's going to happen to all of those pennies.
All pennies collected by our members and the community, and delivered to Tallahassee before the March 18 Lobby Day Rally would be donated to a statewide children’s charity.

At a time when the number of children and families in crisis is increasing and the available funding for services are decreasing, we believe that this is more important than ever.

The Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS) is a worthy charity with more than a century of service to communities throughout Florida.  With a goal of collecting more than 2.6 million pennies (one penny for each student, in each school of every county in Florida), we expect to contribute more than $26,000 to the Children’s Home Society of Florida through their statewide office in Winter Park immediately after March 18.  CHS will then equitably distribute the money for services to children and families in the 14 regional CHS offices in Florida.

The Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS) was established in Jacksonville on November 17, 1902, and today provides an array of services including family and individual counseling, child abuse prevention and intervention services, home-based services, help for pregnant teens and first-time mothers, residential and group homes, adoption and foster care services, mentoring programs, family preservation, and so much more.  Its initial single-room office has expanded into 14 divisions throughout the state, headquartered in Winter Park, with a mission of Embracing Children, Inspiring Lives.

CHS is a 501(c)3 private, not-for-profit organization. For more information please go to www.chsfl.org.
