What the Bill Does
SB 84 eliminates the pension option for employees enrolled in the Florida Retirement System July 1, 2022. Instead, all employees enrolled in the FRS plan after that date will be placed in the investment plan.
SB 84 was only assigned two committee stops. Its final stop will be in the Appropriations Committee. We’ll update you when it is placed on the agenda.
Currently there is no companion bill in the House.

We oppose this bill.
- By eliminating any future enrollment in the FRS pension plan, SB 84 will undermine and destabilize the pension plan putting into jeopardy the retirement security of educators and other public employees.
