The Florida Education Association (FEA) is the largest association of professional employees and the largest labor union in the Southeast, representing more than 150,000 members. Position Summary

The Florida Education Association (FEA) seeks an Administrative Assistant to join the Public Policy and Advocacy Department (PPA). The ideal candidate for this position will exhibit creative problem-solving abilities, excellent customer service skills, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and the ability to remain organized while managing multiple, competing assignments. This position is responsible for providing a wide variety of administrative support and manages request for information from FEA staff, local affiliate union leaders, FEA members, elected officials, and the public.


At least two years of professional administrative experience is required. Skilled proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel is required. Must possess the ability to professionally communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess the ability to understand and adhere to department operations and procedures. The ability to work independently and manage multiple projects is critically important.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide a variety of administrative support to the Public Policy and Advocacy Department professional staff and director including but not limited to, maintaining organized hardcopy and electronic files, maintaining calendars, coordinating business travel, processing incoming and outgoing mail, serving as the primary receptionist, and proofing and preparing written correspondence.
  2. Provide excellent customer services to FEA members via the telephone, email and in-person.
  3. Efficiently and effectively use Microsoft Office suite include Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
  4. Coordinate with FEA’s finance staff to ensure timely processing of invoices.
  5. Coordinate preparation for meetings, conferences, conventions, workshops and assist with participant registration.
  6. Order and maintain office supply inventory for the PPA Department.
  7. Research and distribute information requested by FEA Officers, PPA Director, and staff.
  8. Manage and coordinate special projects as assigned.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of PPA.

  5. Perform all duties, responsibilities, and assignments within the guidelines outlined in the FSO/FEA Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with FEA Policies and Procedures.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary for this position is determined by the negotiated agreement between the Florida Education Association and the Florida Staff Organization based on relevant and comparable experience. FEA provides medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term-disability insurance to its employees and eligible family members with no monthly employee premiums. Additionally, FEA offers two retirement options, annual leave, sick leave, personal leave, and paid holidays.
