SR 964 – Education Staff Professionals

Talking Points

  • Education staff professionals are the backbones of Florida’s schools. Yet they are often afterthoughts of Florida’s politicians. This resolution seeks to change that by lifting up the importance of their work.
  • There has been much talk of the teacher shortage in Florida, but the shortage of education staff professionals is just as real and has negative impacts on students. In order for Florida’s students to attend the schools they deserve, all educators need to be treated with dignity and respect.
  • Read this editorial be FEA Secretary-Treasurer Carole Gauronskas to gain a more detailed understanding of what our education staff professionals do and why they are so important.

Updated Information

Senate Resolution 964, sponsored by Janet Cruz, recognizes and celebrates the invaluable contribution of education staff professionals in this state, who work tirelessly to enhance the learning experiences of Florida students and to advance student success.

What’s Next

Because resolutions are ceremonial in nature they do not have to go through to committee process nor are they signed by the governor. We’ll keep you updated when the bill gets introduced to the Senate.
