Important Update on Hotel Rooms!
**We have reached our capacity for hotel rooms at the Rosen Centre Hotel.** Therefore, we have secured additional rooms at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel. To reserve your room, please call the number for Rosen Reservations at (800) 204-7234. Make sure you mention that you are from FEA, and they will book your stay at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel using the discounted FEA rate. Please do not hesitate to contact Donna Burdette at donna.burdette@floridaea.org with any questions.
FEA delegates will receive the conference rate for hotel room accommodations of $129 per night single/double occupancy and additional persons at $20 each, plus 13.5 percent taxes. The Rosen Centre is booked solid, but the same rate applies at the nearby Rosen Shingle Creek hotel.
We’re getting closer and closer to our biggest and most important meeting of the year - the 2015 FEA Delegate Assembly!

We can’t wait to see you at the 2015 Florida Education Association Delegate Assembly, October 15-17, at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando.

Our theme this year -- “Take Back Our Schools, Our Florida, Our Future.” -- will give us all an opportunity to get charged up on the importance of our leadership roles as we plan, discuss and debate important education issues and FEA's future course. The decisions that are made at this meeting will have an impact on FEA and its affiliates, as well as education policy in Florida. Each delegate represents their colleagues back home and throughout the state, so a robust and engaged audience is essential.
Childcare Now Available!

FEA is pleased to announce that childcare will be available to all delegates at the 2015 Delegate Assembly. Delegates can register for up to three sessions:
Thursday, October 15th 5:00 p.m. until 12:00 midnight (dinner and snack will be provided)
Friday, October 16th 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (breakfast, lunch and snack provided)
Saturday, October 17th 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  (breakfast and lunch provided)

Delegates must pre-register athttp://super-sitters.com/pre-register-for-conference-childcare/no later than Wednesday, September 30.
*There will be no on-site registration.* A non-refundable payment of $25 per session/per child must be received by FEA no later than Thursday, October 1.  Refunds will only be made for cancellations made prior to October 8th.

Agenda In Brief…

Once again, there will be four general sessions for the Delegate Assembly; the first Thursday evening, Friday sessions in the morning and afternoon, and a Saturday session commencing in the morning until the business of the meeting is concluded. The keynote speaker at the first general session, which is scheduled to begin Thursday at 7 p.m., promises to bring a little levity to the proceedings. Mike Rivera operates in two very different arenas – as a Pinellas teacher and as a stand-up comic. Rivera, who bills himself as America’s Most Hilarious Teacher, believes that all students should have the right and opportunity to learn in a caring environment that encourages them to reach their highest potential, all while having fun.

Following the first General Session Thursday evening, the fun continues at the All Delegate Welcome Reception. This year we’ll add live music to the mix with Keep It Civil, a reggae rock band that plays all over Florida. We’ll get together, have some fun and dance the night away.

On Friday, we’ll have the second and third General Sessions. The morning session is scheduled to get under way at 9 a.m., followed at noon by the annual Human and Civil Rights Awards Luncheon. This is a hot ticket every year – and it sells out annually. Don’t miss it. You can click here to order tickets.

The Friday afternoon session is set to begin at 2:45 p.m. At the end of this session, balloting will begin in four contested elections. Delegates will elect FEA Executive Officers (President, Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer) and NEA Director, Seat 1. Below is the information for the elections:

          Date: October 16, 2015
          Time: For two hours after the third session
          Place: Rosen Centre Hotel, Orlando

Our fourth General Session will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and will feature mixed martial arts fighter Daniel Puder. In 2010, Puder founded My Life My Power, a national anti-bullying and youth development non-profit organization. While he is a popular professional athlete now, things were quite different for him while growing up. He struggled with being overweight and was also in special education classes throughout the majority of his schooling, which caused him to be an easy target of bullying. When he began to hear of the kids who were committing suicide from being bullied, he felt a personal connection to the issue and began My Life My Power. You’ll hear Puder’s inspirational story and hear about his organization.
The Saturday session will continue until we complete business. But stick around for the end, when FEA and its sponsors will give away some goodies!
