Bigger Smiles, Better Vision with the NEA Dental and Vision Insurance Program! NEA Member Insurance Trust Waives Premiums for Laid-Off Members The NEA Members Insurance Trust (NEA MIT) has just announced that it will waive participant premiums for members who have been laid off from their jobs for the 2009-2010 school year. This action will provide much needed financial relief and enable participants to maintain their insurance coverage. Affected members may request a waiver of premium for a 12-month period, even if they go back to work. Participants are eligible for the waiver as long as they were an active member at the time they were laid off. The NEA MIT will use a variety of vehicles (billing statements, online at neamb.com, Member Service Center, etc.) to inform members about the waiver and how they can take advantage of it. The waiver will be implemented after the participant submits a written request including the following information: · Insurance certificate number(s) · Copy of lay-off notice from school district or direct employer After a waiver request has been approved, the participant will receive a letter that indicates the start and end dates of the 12-month waiver period. Participants will not receive another bill until 30-45 days before the end of their waiver period. If their premiums are currently paid by electronic funds transfer (EFT) or credit card, the billing will resume at the end of the waiver period using the same account numbers. This 12-month waiver of premium applies to insurance plans underwritten by Prudential and Minnesota Life. Participants should send their waiver of premium request to one of the following addresses:
NEA Insurance Operations P.O. Box 9389 Des Moines, IA 50306-9389
Minnesota Life Insurance Company 400 Robert Street North St. Paul, MN 55101-2098 If you have any questions about the waiver, please contact our Member Service Center at 1-800- 637-4636 or ask-us@neamb.com and one of our Member Service Representatives will assist you. |
