FEA president selected as delegate to Democratic National Convention

FEA President Andy Ford was among 40 statewide delegates elected by the state Democratic Executive Committee to attend the Democratic National Convention, which will begin in late August in Denver.

The 40 delegates were elected based on the results of Florida’s January 29 Democratic primary. Based on the statewide results, 24 of the delegates were pledged to Sen. Hillary Clinton and 16 to Sen. Barack Obama. Ford was elected as a Clinton delegate.

The Florida delegation is currently not seated at the convention because the primary was held a week earlier than party rules allowed. A rules challenge will be held May 31 and may result in the seating of the Florida delegation. In addition, representatives of the Obama and Clinton campaigns have been talking in hopes of reaching an agreeable solution that will allow the delegation to be seated.
