Celebrating FEA's multicultural roots and the diversity of membership, the Human and Civil Rights Awards event is a cherished affair in which members, affiliates and others working in the area of human and civil rights are honored.

The FEA Human and Civil Rights Committee is interested in learning about the people in your community who have made a difference! This HCR committee is requesting your nomination of individuals or groups whom you feel should be considered as recipients of the annual FEA Human & Civil Rights Awards.

Each year four awards are given out:

  • The Human & Civil Rights Award is presented to a person who has demonstrated support and promotion of diversity and social justice.
  • The Mary McLeod Bethune Human Relations in Education Award recognizes outstanding leadership in the promotion of human and civil rights.

  • The Martin Luther King, Jr. Award honors the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. As seen in the qualification’s listings, the purpose of this award is to recognize achievement in the areas of self-determination and civil rights.

  • FEA Service Award is presented to a FEA member, or a local affiliate, who has advanced the cause of human and civil rights.

Please consider submitting an application for one or more of these awards. The winners will be honored during the FEA Delegate Assembly in October.
